P. Ramlee, or Teuku Zakaria was born on 22 March 1929 to Teuku Nyak Puteh(father) and Che Mah Hussein(mother). He received his education from the Sekolah Melayu Kampung Jawa (Kampung Jawa Malay School), Francis Light English School and Penang Free School. Although a reluctant student, he is gifted in music and football. During the Japanese occupation, he learnt the basics of music and to sing Japanese songs and played in his village band. Ramlee’s big break came when B. S. Rajhans, a director working with Shaw Brothers,  discovered him in 1948 while Ramlee was singing at a keroncong (an Indonesian musical style) show in Penang. He was invited as a playback singer at the brothers production studio. His first composition, “Azizah"  became his signature hit and was used in his directorial debut, Penarek Becha (The Trishaw Puller, 1955). Shortly after, he played a villain in Chinta (Love, 1948) and lent his voice to film soundtracks.

Ramlee’s versatility was most apparent in comedies, and he is also best remembered for his works in this genre. The Bujang Lapok (Raggedy Bachelors) series, which co-stars S. Shamsuddin and Aziz Sattar, were Ramlee’s most beloved comedies because of their socially conscious themes. P. Ramlee is also well known for the Do Re Mi film series.

Rosli Dhobi (18 March 1932 – 2 March 1950) was a Malay Sarawakiannationalist from Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia during the British crown colony era in that state.He was a member leader of the Rukun 13, an active organisation in the Anti-cession movement of Sarawak, along with Morshidi Sidek, Awang Rambli Bin Deli and Bujang Suntong. It was a secret cell organisation, composed of nationalists, which carried out assassinations of officers of the British Colonial government in Sarawak, he was well known for his assassination of Duncan George Stewart, the second governor of colonial Sarawak, in 1949.

It has been reported that the group was in fact agitating for union with newly independent Indonesia. Documents released in the late 20th century indicate that the British Government knew this, but chose not to reveal the truth of the matter in the assassination so not to provoke Indonesia, it had recently won its war of independence from the Netherlands, and the UK was already dealing with the Malayan Emergency to the north-west.
